update on me

I had hand and back therapy today. Back therapy went great. My back muscles are calming down and got the ok to try to run at the gym. My back is feeling so much better. My hand therapy didn't go as well. It is still very stiff and hasn't changed the past 2 weeks. It is still really swollen. Tomorrow they are putting something new on my splint to hold my knuckles down to wear at night. They also ordered me a high dollar remote hand that will make my hand move at home and hopefully get more movement. My wrist will still not move. They are saying surgery again in December. Therapist said today that 3-4 weeks ago I had full blown RSD. Something not so good that you can develop after a trama. She said it is less now and seems to have calmed down some. She said I am having alot of affects from it like the swelling, stiffness and pain in my whole hand.

I was listening to the radio alittle while ago and heard the song It's A Good Day. It says " say hey it's a good day even if things aren't going my way Jesus is lord and I am saved so say hey it's a good day....

Even though life is very hectic right now it could be so much worse and I'm so thrilled to have a loving family so willing to help me and a lord that is there with me ever step of the way.

Rebekah's Dr visit & surgery pics!

I saw my had surgeon today and he gave us the pics from my surgery 6-8-08 if you wish to see them they are at the bottom of this message. Hold onto your lunch if you decide to look!!

My hand surgeon thought my hand was very stiff and was not progressing very good. He has ordered therapy 3x a week for 4 weeks and then I will see him again. Dr wants updates during those 4 weeks. He said the therapy is really going to be painful. He was not pleased my wrist will not bend at all. He said we maybe looking at surgery to loosen up scar tissue, but with my hand can not go back in for 41/2 more months. He is really hoping the therapy will help. My hand is still numb on about 75% of the back of my hand.

I also saw another Dr for my neck and back pain. He referred me for back therapy where i am getting my hand therapy and will start that Monday. He is a neat Dr. and at the end ask Kyle to look up john 16:33 and James 1:2. Kyle has a bible on his phone.

John 16:33
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

James 1:2-3
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.

How cool is that!!! I have had the best Dr's.

Please pray for a FULL recovery of my hand and also Kyle. He is working full-time, taking care of kids and house and taking me to appointment 3x a week and any running the boys need also. I will have my splint for 2-3 more weeks. I can't really drive though until my hand is moving and bending better. I don't care.. not really wanting to drive, but feeling for Kyle having to take me everywhere. Kyle is doing an awesome job!!!!

WARNING "For the squeamish, avoid the pictures under the two links below. They show my hand during the surgery."

The Saga Continues...

Today was kind of a rough day for Rebekah. Now that four weeks have passed since the accident, the therapist is trying to stretch her fingers, hand and wrist more. The stretching and exercises are very painful. she is very stiff, her wrist cannot move, and that is hampering her progress.

She was given a new compression glove today, which you see in the above picture. This should help reduce the remaining swelling and give her some more mobility.

She returns to the therapist next Monday where they will measure her progress. The hand surgeon will need that report for her visit with him next Wednesday. Please pray for the stiffness to go away and movement in the hand to increase (pain free, of course). The therapist is afraid she may be looking at surgery again.

Rebekah will also visit with her regular doctor next week to see about getting therapy for the stiffness and pain in her neck and back.

By the way, we took Jonas and Malachi to their pediatrician yesterday, and he gave them a clean bill of health (praise the Lord). You might pray for Jonas. He is still having a little difficulty dealing with the events of the accident. He will be visiting with a child psychologist soon to help him deal with the trauma that he remembers.

Thanks, Kyle

Mala can't find toy!

Mala was throwing all the toys out trying to find a certain Bob The Builder toy! ;-)

Daddy had a big helper last night doing some yard work! the weeds in the front of our house had gotten very big this month...

Kyle has been so busy this past month and will continue for some time. He is working full time, taking care of the house and kids and taking care of me. He also, has to take me to all mine and the boys appointments which has been like 4x week! He just does it all with a smile on his face... I know he is worn out! pray for him these next few weeks... I won't b driving 4 at least a few more weeks. Can't say i look forward to driving again, but love our new van....

Update on Allen

Kyle's dad Allen went back to have a follow up MRI yesterday on his back where he had the tumor removed a year ago February. Dr. said everything looked good and the spot that was in his bone they saw in January is leaving. We know God put that there so the doctors could find the cancer in his lung. We praise God for that miracle. We are thankful for his Dr. as he is the one that pursued the spot and wanted more tests.

Allen saw the surgeon, on the 26th of June. He thought Allen was doing really good for only being 3 weeks from his lung surgery. Some days, he feels better than other days, but gaining everyday!

We want to thank you all again for your prayers for Allen. God is Good!

HAPPY 4TH....

What a super 4th of July we had! This is Kyle, filling in for Rebekah. She spent part of the morning and early afternoon resting while the boys played inside. After a delicious lunch of BBQ chicken (cooked by yours truely), we headed off on our day's adventure.

After failing to find a Christian bookstore open on the 4th, we dropped by Best Buy and picked up a couple of CDs (Natalie Grant & Barlow Girl) and a new telephone. The batteries on our current cordless phones are shot. We would just go get new batteries, but the phones themselves aren't that good anymore. So, we'll see if Panasonic can beat our old Uniden's.

We would've ventured around Best Buy a while longer, but Rebekah informed me that she was tiring, so we left and drove downtown to the city's fountain park. The boy's had a blast playing in the water. And, yes, I even got my feet wet...and my back, head, and the rest of my body. But, that happens around fountains I suppose.

An hour and a half after arriving at the fountains, it was time to head home to watch some fireworks. Our entire neighborhood has been bustling with the sound of fireworks all evening long. We settled for the Boston Pops fireworks show on tv, and watched the neighbors blast the sky with their display. Malachi was scared of the noises, and snuggled up next to me on the sofa to watch it all out the window. Rebekah had bought some Sun Chips and cantalope so she snuggled on the other side, while the older two boys bounced around the room and windows trying to catch all the colorful excitement.

It was wonderful to get to spend the day with my family. No doubt we would've had bigger plans for Independence Day had Rebekah and the boys not been in that wreck, but then we wouldn't have gotten to experience the wonderful day we had today.
Now, it is late. The boys are asleep and soon I will be, too. So, until next time....

Fun in the sun!

Life is Precious

THIS SONG IS VERY INTERESTING... Super chick-We Live They are a contemporary Christian group!

my bad accident has really made me stop and THINK... You never know what could happen each day. i could have easily been killed with my boys last month. that shakes ya up! it shook kyle up big time... it just shows how fast things can happen and to just wake up and realize the gift of life God has given us. I'm so thankful that God protected us... God is right there waiting to help us through anything... I prayed loud the entire time we were flying throw the air and rolling. We were being protected through the entire thing.. we had 2 strollers in the back right behind Jonas and those alone could have severely hurt him. they were found twisted together and still behind Jonas' seat! There were alot of things that could have made it so much worse or tragic.... God is good!!

one final thought..BUCKLE UP YOUR FAMILY THEY ARE PRECIOUS!! If we had not been bucked we wouldn't be here!
